Mission Statement

CMS Mission Statement

Chester Middle School’s mission is to prepare student leaders to be college and career ready for success in a global society.

  • Way to go CMS!

A special CONGRATULATIONS to Chester Middle School who received state recognition as a Palmetto Silver School for Closing the Achievement Gap!! We are so proud of all of our staff and students!

From the Desk of the Principal

I am pleased to welcome all families to the 2018-2019 school year.  We are thankful to all of our parents who ensured that students completed their summer reading and didn't fall victim to the summer slide.

At Chester Middle School, we engage students with STEAM, cultivate leaders through Leader in Me and we succeed with the integration of AVID strategies.  We prepare our students to communicate, collaborate, create and think critically as outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. At CMS we promote a sense of community through Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) using our House System adopted from the Ron Clark Academy to promote the characteristics that we want our students and staff to exhibit as they Keep it R.E.A.L. with Respect, Excellence, Accountability, and Leadership.  In our Lead Advisory sessions we teach our students soft skills and life skills that will prepare them for the future.  As we continue to grow as a Professional Learning Community (PLC), we will utilize strategies that are necessary for our students to be College and Career Ready.

I am so excited to work with our young people this year as I enter my sixteenth year in education, and I definitely lead through the lens of a mom (I’m a mother of two) ensuring the highest quality education for all of students. Looking forward to a phenomenal year.

Mrs. Houston
